No Excuses

So today is Monday…sigh…I didn’t have a blog post ready to go, not a ton of time, no cohesive thoughts.  I thought of doing a “bits of randomness” post with links to some good reads, but as I got started, the blog post evolved on it’s own…funny how that works.  I am letting others do the talking, but there is a common theme.  But first, a little diversion ~ can’t help it, today I am proud of our military and our president. 

Most Americans woke up to the rather surprising news that we had finally got Bin Laden.  My son woke me up last night (I was really tired and had gone to bed on the early side) and told me the news.  I was so out of it my brain couldn’t even process who Bin Laden was.  I think I said something like “oh, that’s good” but I will have to chat with my son later to confirm that.  When I woke up this morning I had to check the news to see if I hadn’t dreamed it.  I imagine a lot of people are quick to criticize the government and military that this took so long, but the reality is you are looking for one person who really could be almost anywhere in the world, who is highly protected (by individuals and governments)…I say awesome job by our special forces and for Obama for making the rather gutsy decision to give the green light.

Okay, onto less political, more blog appropriate material.  This is, in my opinion, a must read blog post written by my coach back in December…really one of my favorites.  For anyone who has some lame ass excuse for not working out today (and as a personal trainer I have heard some doozies), read this.  And even if you’re not going to skip your workout, read it anyway.  It will inspire you to stick with it.  Next Time You Stub Your Toe and Decide to Skip a Training Session, Make Sure You Read This. 

Last week I posted a video clip of 120 lb Nia Shanks sumo deadlifting 275 lbs…if you missed it, check out my blog post “I Lift Things Up and I Put Them Down.”  Here is a blog post of Nia’s that is along the same lines as Tony’s post above, called “Stop With the Excuses.”  I love Nia’s no-nonsense approach.  I don’t care what your excuse for not working out, Nia is calling BS on it…check it out.

And here is one of my all-time favorite commercials…it is one minute long and you have to watch to the end.  If you’re feeling sorry for yourself or thinking you have a legitimate excuse for not working out, you won’t after you watch this:

One final thing before I leave you to check out all the above links…my blog has been up and running since late March and today’s post will be my 20th one.  I have received so much positive feedback from people and I truly appreciate it.  I love having the blog as a forum to pass along information that I am passionate about, that I think can help improve people’s lives.  It is not always easy getting posts done, and sometimes I feel I am writing a research paper for school.  But I love it.  And I want to thank all of you for reading and for your very kind, supportive words ~ it honestly makes it all worth it.

Now for a request…I have stats that tell me (generally) which of my posts people are viewing (I have no idea if you read it, but I’m assuming you do).  So I can get a general idea of what gets more hits.  I plan to use this information to try to tailor what I write about.  But I would appreciate any feedback from you readers ~ if there are specific things you would like to see addressed, questions you have, topics you like better than others, please let me know ~ you can leave a comment at the end of this post, leave me a comment on Facebook or send me a private message on Facebook.  Additionally, if you like what you are reading, please pass my website address onto your family and friends.  I make no money from doing this, but as I think is the case with most bloggers, I want to reach as many people as possible.  So please share my site with those you know.  If you have someone you know who is making excuses for not working out…today’s post might be a good one to share.  🙂

I have lived in Sherborn, Dover and most recently North Walpole, for a total of 15 years (and counting).     Lisa,
    I have been loving your blog. I think we all want to make small changes in what we eat, how we exercise and how we mentally think about all of those things. Your blog does just that. I have been doing mobility exercises, added chia seeds and cacao to my yogurt, cook spinach in the microwave to add to the 3 or 4 servings of whole eggs I now eat and I having been doing glute drops and pull-ups. Today at work when things slow down I’m going to watch the KingCorn. Thank-you!!
